The Wewelsburg wind farm with 11 wind turbines, each with an output of 2.3 megawatts, is located near Büren-Wewelsburg. According to wind reports, the systems should generate an average of around 54 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year – this corresponds to the electricity requirements of around 15,500 average households. The wind farm is operated by several companies.
Windy Standard became fully operational in November 1996 and at the time was Scotland's second largest wind farm. It consists of 36 wind turbines.
The wind farm consists of 83 Vestas wind turbines, the associated infrastructure including cables, roads, crane positions, grid integration, other civil and electrical infrastructure and a high-voltage substation that also connects other parks.
