Drax Group acquired the Lanark and Galloway run-of-river hydro schemes, located in south-west Scotland on 31 December 2018. The schemes employ a total of 33 people and have a combined capacity of 126 MW – enough to provide electricity to more than 100,000 homes.

We have been developing run-of-river hydro schemes since 2007, from initial concept through to consent, construction, commissioning and generation. We have extensive in-house capability covering planning, development, civil, mechanical and electrical engineering.
Kemijoki Oy is the most important producer of hydropower and regulating power in Finland. We own 20 hydropower plants, 16 of which are located at the Kemijoki watercourse area, two at River Lieksanjoki and two at River Kymijoki. In addition, we regulate the reservoirs in Lokka and Porttipahta as well as Lake Kemijärvi and Lake Olkkajärvi. Our most important goal is to produce hydropower for our stakeholders reliably and cost-effectively.
