The Karlsruhe Energy and Climate Protection Agency (KEK) was founded in June 2009 as a non-profit organization. As a neutral organisation, the KEK informs and advises the citizens of Karlsruhe, companies and organizations on climate protection, the efficient use of energy, energetic building renovation and the expansion of renewable energies.
We are the energy transition makers in North Rhine-Westphalia. We stand for the nationwide expansion of all forms of regenerative energies. From wind, solar and bioenergy to hydropower and geothermal energy: together we form the strong voice of renewable energies in NRW. We are small and large companies, associations and initiatives as well as committed citizens: we are all united by our consistent commitment to a successful energy transition: we are LEE NRW.

We are working for the future of emission-free technologies in an integrated energy system. As a federally-owned company, we take assignments in the area of sustainable mobility and energy supply from so-called top-level federal authorities, i.e. federal ministries. These assignments mostly consist of the implementation and coordination of funding programmes. We are also tasked with accompanying strategic stakeholder processes, organising international collaborations, and we are active in advancing acceptance of alternative technologies in society.
